Sometimes its just a good idea to go out and be silly....

...because it's this stuff that makes me happy!
I actually made this dress a little while back and have had it hanging on the rack....I really don't know why other than I guess I needed the right venue to show it off.

So today, Avery Bug and I took a trip to our local music store. We think that it is pretty neat that we have a real music store within walking distance of our house. They even sell vinyl, it's very cool.

The music was playing, there were rows and rows of vintage albums and Avery Bug couldn't help herself....she had to DANCE!
and DANCE and DANCE and DANCE

We also checked out their selection of awesome  MUSIC
Who knew Avery Bug was in to vintage music?
Not me.

Sunny Gumdrops

I am so happy to say that the last few days here have been filled with the sound of buzzing coming straight from my sewing room!

Today was a fun sewing day because I made a bunch of Gumdrop Skirts.

I just love how bright and sunny they are and each time I finish one I just smile because it is such a happy little skirt!

Glimpse of Everyday

I thought I would share this picture from today because I just have a feeling that most of you have been here before...

Keep Your Baby Calm and Carry On.

This was the theme of the day at our house.

Indianapolis Star Features Two Little Bugs Clothing Co.

If you remember a few days back I was saying how I had to clean up my sewing room. The reason?  I had a photo shoot here! Yes, I was featured in the Indianapolis Star in the Living section of the paper! They did an article on me titled "How She Did It" which makes me smile because I think "how did I do it?"
Sometimes, okay all the time, I forget how lucky I am that I am actually doing something that I really love!!!
I have to say the coolest part was having so many people congratulate me! Some many of you called, texted, facebooked, tweeted and everything else! You made my day!!!!

It was so much fun to do this and I can't thank my friends and family enough for all the support they have given me. It is so much easier to keep things in perspective when you have the people you love cheering you on along the way!

...and I have to say it was pretty cool to see myself in the paper too. I mean WOW!

Here it is....

I always think that is interesting when I'm looking at other blogs and realize that I have so much in common with these women that live all the way on the other side of the country. Women I have never met but feel like if I did know them we would be the best of friends. It always makes me chuckle when I see that they decorate with the same items or that they pick out the same fabric as I do. I guess that is why I thought that I just had to make this next item. I mean the coincidence was just to much for me not to!

While looking at this awesome blog I came across this adorable wreath tutorial.

This is the before picture with the {old} wreath on their front door

This is my front door

See any similarities?

So I couldn't help but wonder what their {new} wreath would look like on my front door?

Their {new} wreath

My {new} wreath

I love it so much!

Thank you Emily, over at Jones Design Company for helping me get in to the

{ Fall } swing of things

So just as a quick little follow up to my earlier post...

While I was looking for inspiration for what to do with my dining room I came across this picture on CSN stores of a dining room set that looked very similar to the one in my dining room! I love it because it's a little more detailed than mine, I could just look at those legs everyday! Aren't they beautiful!  Oh and I am in love with the linen seats too! I love this sight, they have everything from this gorgeous set for someone with a larger dining room to smaller drop leaf tables for those of you with a smaller space.

I thought it might be helpful for any of you inspired to do some changes of your own!!

My Dining Room

A little while back I posted some pictures of my dining room here. I had mentioned that we had moved a lot in the past few years and I own a lot of things that I had purchased for our other homes.  Well, I was tired of the look of my house because I just didn't feel like I had put any effort in to it since we moved in 2 years ago. I guess I was tired of decorating a house and then moving out soon after!

Then I came across the blog JONES DESIGN COMPANY and fell in love with all of Emily's pictures of her home. She truly is talented and always has the coolest tutorials.  After seeing how lovely her home was, I thought to myself, that's it, I need to do something with this place!  Like most of us, I would love to just throw everything away and start fresh but I don't have that in the budget. Instead, I look for ideas on blogs and in magazines and here is what I have come up with.
Here is the before picture:

Here is the after:

The changes aren't huge ones but this is a little about what I did to spruce up the place.

There used to be a mirror hanging on the wall where the chalkboard hangs now. I stole the chalkboard out of the kitchen and replaced it with another one I had laying around. I now use this one for all my daily quotes and I use the kitchen one for my TO DO list.
One thing we did do when we moved in was replace the lighting. Our light fixtures are from Restoration Hardware and they were passed down to me from my old employer. He was replacing these "new" ones with "newer" ones! I love hand me downs!!

I changed the knobs on our Pottery Barn buffet I snagged for $200 at the outlet to these etched glass ones I found at hobby lobby.  I have been dying to find a place to use these knobs ever since I saw them there. I think they are so pretty.
I have a lot of dishes (well because I love dishes) and because we don't have much storage in this house I now keep some of them in this basket on the shelf. It makes for a nice hiding spot.

I added these linen table runners that I found at IKEA. They were in the fabric section and were already hemmed along the sides so the only thing I had to do was hem the ends up. Not so bad for $8.

These are old spaghetti sauce jars that I drew a 1 and 2 on with a Sharpie. I would of liked to stencil them on with paint but this works for now.
I purchased some candles from IKEA and covered them with pages from and old book to make them a bit more interesting.

I can't tell you how happy I was to find this cloche at Homegoods in the Clearance aisle for $8...what a deal, especially since I have been wanting one forever!

I also have this old sterling silver cream and sugar set that my dad gave me years ago sitting up here with an old picture of my granddad when he was in the service. I love this picture so I keep it where I can see it all the time.
It's funny because about 4 years ago I decided that I wanted to change the covers on the dining room chairs because my dining room at the time was painted a bluish gray color. Now that I am in a more neutral mood I just removed the covers I had put on and what do you know, the original striped cover matches the room perfectly!
I am so excited to finally have my parson chairs!! I have always wanted them and now they are here....so happy!! My other side chairs are now in storage because you never know when I might need them again?

This is our Dining Room for now and I love it!
I hope I inspired some of you to do some redecorating of your own even if it is just something small. I always feel so much better when I love the room I'm in!

I can't believe that it is September 21st and we have the air conditioning on and it is going to be 94 degrees today!!  All this warm weather is making it difficult to get in to the fall swing of things. I mean it's way to hot and the pools are closed for the year already! So what do we do?
Well at our house we stay inside and have a crafternoon!!
Dana over at MADE has been doing a Celebrate Yellow Month and has inspired me to do a little celebrating myself.

What else but bright new hair clips! We love flowers and there is nothing better than the ones that you can wear in your hair!

Look at this big pile of hair clips!! It's so bright and sunny just like today!

It reminds me of a little garden of blooming flowers

What do I do with all these flowers? I guess I will put them in our shop!
We needed some new items so I guess this is a good start!

Thank you to all of you that participated in the giveaway!! Keep watching and I will be posting a new one soon!!

Well I'm super excited for some things that are in the works!
I can't wait to share them with you but in the meantime..... I wanted to show you that my work room has had a little bit of a face lift. Granted there is a lot I would love to do with it but this totally works for now.

My lovely friend Emily, was gracious enough to pass this adorable armoire on to me.
Now I use it to store all my clothes in. So much better than the rolling racks I have been using.  I hot glued scrapbook paper to the inside doors since I knew they would be opened most of the time. I do wish that I would of bought more of it so there aren't any holes but I'm fine with the white stripe.

I used my flower pins to liven up these IKEA pillow inserts. Easy and quick fix!

Just a little upcycled twirl dress for a customer.
Let's Go Banana's!
Would Rachel Zoe die for this??

I'm just in love with all these paper flowers....again thanks to Emily! She used them for her daughters first birthday party and then gave them to me for my work room!

I had a super fun morning thanks to all my girls!! You were all just perfect!
If you have no idea what I'm talking about,  just wait and you will soon enough.

Have a great day!

I have had some exciting things happening and my business is getting busier by the day!! Some days it is a struggle to keep up with it all but still I feel so fortunate that I am able to do it. I am a lucky girl!

My house has had a bit of a face lift and I am very happy about that! I can't wait to show you all the "after" pictures but I can't show them yet.....it's not quite ready yet!

So many things going on and I promise to have something to show you tomorrow but for now......ENTER THE CONTEST!!!!!

I wanted to share this little dress that I finished for a customer yesterday.  She needed a gift for a little bug in her family and being that she is a self declared hippie needed something that was sure to reflect her style.

What other than a little Dead Head dress for newest hippie bug in the family!

The best part is that this is my first international sale...
this dress is going all the way to Australia!!

I can't wait to see little Harper in it!

Fall is finally here and I can't help but smile thinking about all the fun that it brings.

I love fall, in fact it is my most favorite time of year! It is in the fall I get to pull out all my favorite sweaters and Uggs ( I will where these boots forever) and sit by the fire pit, roasting marshmallo's with my family. We did this so much last year that Avery bug just starting asking everyday if we were going to "Smore" that night!
What's not to love about such a beautiful season? The weather in my opinion is just right and how I love the way the leaves change and I love all the mum's on everyone's doorsteps.
Those mums in particular have given me a little inspiration today for the next giveaway!

Some of you might remember little Lexi bug from this older post
She is such a cutie pie and she just turned two! To celebrate her little girl turning two, Lexi's mom Jena had this adorable party for her with all the trimmings!  I was so pleased when her mom asked me to make her this special birthday crown.  I couldn't have been happier to see this little birthday princess wearing one of my crowns. Darling!

Don't you just want to take a big bite out of one of those cupcakes. YUMMY!
